How to close a pocket knife is a general question in our daily lives. People come in contact with different types of pocket knives. These knives have locking mechanisms for closing and opening. The purpose of this locking mechanism in every pocket knife is to secure the blade. Because the blade is sharp, any laxity on the part of the user can cause injury. Pocket Knife Without Lock

A pocket knife without a lock has two major parts: a blade and a slotted hilt. The blade has two edges: a sharp and a dull one. The hilt usually has a slot where the blade goes and is secured.

A Pocket knife can be closed and opened easily after practising and mastering this mechanism. Here are different steps to close a pocket knife.

Grip of the Hilt

Hold tightly the hilt in such a way that the base of the palm and thumb support from one side and the fingers hedge from the other side of the hilt. Please make sure that the slot must be opened and unhindered.

Holding Back of the Blade

Grip the blade from the dull side with your dominant hand so that the grip can move the blade. Some pocket knives have blades with a grip for opening and closing the knife.

Pushing of Blade into Slot

After a firm grip holding the knife’s blade, it is pushed into the slot. Sometimes the slot is filled with some dust or closing particles that must be done away with before closing the folding knife. Care must be practised keeping a blade part away from your body. After practice, one can close the knife with one hand.

Pocket Knife With Liner and Frame Lock

Liner and Frame lock folding knives have a liner part behind the blade. The blade gets its position set when this liner part is pushed. Frame lock has an outer lining while liner lock has an inner lining. This knife has a saw-toothed portion behind the blade. Blade gets a slot when we push the locking mechanism. This pushing ensures the setting of the blade after losing tension from the hilt side. The blade is pushed with one hand to the slot. Thus it gets locked.  As a precaution knife must be at a considerable distance especially when you are a novice and want to practise it.

Pocket Knife With Axis Lock

This knife has a lock mechanism. The axis is pushed to move aside the spring that recoils into an original mechanism to ensure a lock. The button is pushed with the thumb pressing. This causes the blade to open. After holding tightly to the hilt of the knife, you can push the blade back into the slot with the help of one hand.

Pocket Knife With Button Lock

It is a knife with a button at the bottom of the blade. Pushing the blade after pressing the button brings the blade back into the sloght.
